Gav's aviation pages
As if I didn't have enough stuff to occupy my time, I am pleased to say I now have another hobby (if you'd call it that), and another expensive one at that :-) As reported in my 'latest news', June 2007 (now in 'Archive News'), I had a trial flying lesson back in May 2007. This was a result of a gift voucher purchased for me by Fiona, and I have to admit that while it is something I have always wanted to do, I probably wouldn't have done it myself if she hadn't bought it for me. Well the end result is that one lesson was not enough and after much deliberation I decided to take things further, embarking upon the Private Pilot's Licence course at the Ulster Flying Club in Newtownards. I have also taken the step of publishing a summary of the lessons here. I am fortunate enough to fly the club's Cessna 172SPs, which were purchased new by the club in 2003. The 'S' version of the 172 has a generous 180bhp, which means that it has surprisingly good performance for a training aircraft. Having also flown the club's C152, I can now appreciate this :-).
I'm not sure how these pages will develop in the future; for now, I'll include a link to my PPL diary and a few other interesting aviation-related sites.....
